About the College/Department

Razorback Transit provides fare-free fixed route bus and paratransit service to all University of Arkansas students, faculty, staff and the general public during all hours of operation. Razorback Transit buses have wheelchair lifts and are air-conditioned. Full transit service is provided Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on class days throughout the Fall and Spring semesters (mid- August to mid- May) including final exam days. Reduced bus service is provided from 6:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Friday during the Fall and Spring semesters (mid-August to mid-May). Saturday service is provided 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. during the same months. The last buses depart Union Station at 10:00 p.m except the Red route which departs at 9:00 p.m. Regular routes are not operated on home football game days. Reduced service is also provided from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday during the summer (mid May to mid August) and during the Christmas and New Year holiday break.

Summary of Job Duties

The Transit Dispatcher receives radio and/or telephone calls concerning building maintenance, transit operations, emergency situations, or inquiries from the general public. This position interviews callers to obtain information, and offers assistance on directions, procedures, and schedules; relays information to appropriate departmental personnel, such as building maintenance staff, parking control officers, transit bus drivers, and paratransit van drivers; records or enters information into logs and/or computer databases; compiles information from logs or databases into reports; receive deliveries from vendors and delivery services; and monitors visitor and employee entrance and exit of the property.

Regular, non-disruptive, and reliable attendance is an essential job duty, as well as the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

  • At least two years of experience in operating communication equipment or related area
