Professional Associate II
The University of Kentucky believes that the ethical and humane use of animals for research, teaching and testing is essential for the advancement of science and the discovery of treatments and cures for diseases in humans and animals alike.
This position provides administrative support to the Attending Veterinarian, Associate Director OAV, Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) Chair, and members of the IACUC on the implementation of the university-wide Program of Animal Care and Use; schedules and coordinates logistics for meetings, inspections and training; timely preparation and distribution of agendas, minutes, inspection records, decisions and related materials.
Conducts initial administrative review of protocol submissions (eSirius3G) and follows up to ensure completeness; serves as IACUC liaison in responding to inquiries and providing information and guidance; manages and maintains official and electronic records and files; coordinates protocol reviewer assignments and workflow. Processes administrative paperwork; may perform other administrative functions and related duties as required by the AV, Associate Director OAV, and IACUC Chair.

Working at a computer for extended periods of time using repetitive motions. Standing or walking with objects up to 25lbs. Risk of back injury from moving, lifting or positioning patients, equipment, or materials. Job-related travel.
Does this position have supervisory responsibilities?
CPIA certification preferred. Knowledge of regulatory guidance and institutional administrative support processes, including scheduling and logistics. Sound judgment, ability to interpret policies and guidelines, and to independently solve problems. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency taking and transcribing meeting notes and minutes, attendance, other meeting related documentation. Experience developing and maintaining computerized databases and tracking systems; proficient to advanced computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.
