Job Responsibilities

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is accepting applications for an Associate Director in the Department of Institutional Research. Will provide consultation and analytical support to the Director of Institutional Research in the areas of data reporting and analysis. Analyzes data, produces IR Data Analysis Reports with executive summaries, and presentations of findings. Works collaboratively with academic departments and support units to translate data findings into actionable recommendations and survey improvements. Compiles complex data and develops institutional reports for internal and external reporting requirements. Internal reporting include the compilation of data for the Fact Book and standardized reports that are distributed to the administration. External reporting includes state and federal requirements, accreditation data reports, and publishing companies that are submitted at various intervals throughout the year (i.e., AACSB, ABET, NCATE, SACS, Princeton Review, VSA, CHEMIS, IPEDS)

Plans, develops, and conducts special research and data management projects using computer information systems and specialized software packages. Works with the Director of Institutional Research, assessment professionals, and information technologists to develop specialized data analysis programs. Coordinates the data retrieval process utilizing available databases.

Identifies various data resources to enhance and expand the institution reporting capabilities. Develops, maintains, and evaluates databases and information systems, troubleshooting data problems. Determines sample/data to be used in these analyses, downloads data, oversees data storage and security, and monitors data quality and data integrity. Creates and updates documentation on a regular basis.



The successful candidate must have a Bachelor degree and professional experience in a related field. Must have analytical, reporting, computing and writing skills; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint to also include a thorough understanding of relational databases and the ability to present information effectively. Must have exceptional ability to analyze and synthesize information and draw appropriate conclusions.


Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in a higher education institution preferred. Experience with Ellucian's Operational Data Store, Enterprise Data Warehouse and Cognos is preferred.
