Assistant Professor of English in Applied and Professional Writing

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of English in Applied and Professional Writing faculty position in the Department of English, College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Position Responsibilities: Kennesaw State University's English Department is accepting applications for a tenure-track position for Assistant Professor of English focused on Applied and Professional Writing. This position will require teaching professional writing courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels on such topics as workplace, technical, and web writing; writing the biography; and professional editing. Ideal candidates will have a promising record of scholarship in the field of professional writing, including conference presentations and publications. Candidates with industry experience are especially encouraged to apply. All candidates should have an interest in the impact of emerging technologies on the field of professional writing. Commitment to excellence in teaching, complemented by strong scholarship and engagement, is expected of all faculty members in KSU's College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Candidates should have experience teaching in a variety of modalities, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses. Moreover, candidates will also be expected to serve on capstone committees for MAPW graduate students in applied writing. Other responsibilities will include consulting on course and program development and contributing broadly to the vitality of the department and the university community through a variety of service activities. Required Education, qualifications, and experience:
An earned Ph.D. in English or a related field, the foreign equivalent, or an earned MFA is required, as well as a record of research or indication of publication potential is essential. Applicants with the training, ability, and/or experience equivalent to the minimum degree may be considered.
The Department of English at Kennesaw State University offers a B.A. in English; a B.S. in English Education; minors in Film Studies, Professional Writing, and Language and Literary Studies; an M.A. in Professional Writing; and M.A., specialist, and doctoral degrees in Secondary English Education. The department is also home to the Kennesaw Mountain Writing Project and the Georgia Writers Association. Faculty in the department teach in a variety of modalities, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online.
