Job Summary/Basic Function:
General Description:
The purpose of this position is to perform routine administrative tasks to ensure efficient daily operations of the Center for History and Culture, and provide support to students and the faculty. This is accomplished by receiving and routing phone calls, handling visitors, providing clerical assistance to include typing, printing, copying and faxing, maintaining databases, and distributing mail. Other duties include organizing a filing system, keeping records and spreadsheets, and completing necessary forms for purchasing and scheduling of programs.

Essential Job Functions:
This position provides clerical and administrative support, including copying and faxing; typing correspondence; entering data; assisting students and visitors; maintaining filing system; organizing meetings and facilitating all programs and Center events.

Performs other routine support tasks primarily involving customer service and support/clerical activities by answering routine inquiries; ordering and distributing supplies; running errands as needed throughout campus; making personal deliveries to other departments; and performing additional duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Job Requirements:

Education/License Required: High School diploma or GED.

Experience Required: Six (6) months of experience in an office setting.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Position typically has no responsibility for supervision or direction of others.

Personal contacts are with employees within the work unit and/or general public, including students, in a highly structured situation which involves obtaining, clarifying, or giving facts or information.

This position performs the duty assignment after receiving detailed instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results with little room for deviation. The immediate supervisor may, at times, provide close and constant review.

This position title requires the use of standard technical computer skills and programs appropriate to the work environment of the organization.

This position has no budgetary responsibility.

Physical Requirements: Sedentary, exerting up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time.
