The Coordinator of Disability Services is responsible for implementing reasonable accommodations for students registered with Student Disability Services (SDS), including students with physical, medical, learning, neurological and psychiatric disabilities, as well as students on the Autism Spectrum. The Coordinator provides direct service to students to include reviewing documentation, determining eligibility for services and reasonable accommodation strategies, communication of accommodations and outreach to faculty and university resources, promoting student self-advocacy and working to promote an environment of access and equal opportunity on campus. The Coordinator also works to assist students in procuring other support structures such as tutoring, academic coaching, supplemental instruction and other collaborative initiatives.


Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree in special education, rehabilitation, counseling, psychology, social work, sociology or related field required. Understanding and experience working with persons with disabilities, use of accessible technology, and ability to read and interpret diagnostic tests and psychoeducational evaluations. Work experience in higher education preferred. Possess knowledge of applicable laws that ensure equal access to students, including Section 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act (1990) and ADAAA (2009), the Telecommunication Act of 1996 as well as knowledge of accessible technology best practices such as Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0.
