The Director of Assessment reports to the assistant dean for academic affairs and assessment and is responsible for leading the planning, development, and implementation of assessment and accreditation efforts across all academic and operational areas of pharmacy programs within the College.

Essential Job Functions: These consist of three domains:  Service, Scholarship, and Administration.

Scholarship (10-15%)

  • Participate and assist faculty in the scholarship of discovery, application and integration.
  • Disseminate the results of scholarly endeavors in appropriate forums, including publications, presentations and teaching

Service (10-15%)

  • Actively serve on College and University committees as relevant to the position and as assigned.
  • As appropriate, serve as mentor to new faculty and staff.
  • Contribute meaningfully to departmental and College developmental and planning activities such as retreats and workshops.
  • Participate in local, state, and national professional organizations and professional development activities.
  • Participate in self-determined community service activities or those as determined by the College or University.

Administration (70-80%)

  • Continually develop and promote a dynamic culture of assessment for pharmacy programs within the College.
  • Empower all employees to incorporate assessment principles and practices into their work to achieve the mission and goals of the pharmacy programs within the College.
  • Lead efforts to continuously evaluate and improve both educational outcomes and programmatic structures and processes for pharmacy programs.  This includes but is not limited to the use of exam analytics, development of rubrics and development of test questions.
  • Collaborate with faculty and administrators to advance assessment practices across the University.
  • Utilize assessment data to drive strategic planning and decision making.
  • Evaluate, monitor and modify the assessment plan for pharmacy programs based on available data.
  • Complete and disseminate assessment reports.
  • Contribute to College and institutional activities.
  • Oversight of pharmacy programs accreditation responsibilities.
  • Should be involved in both pharmacy and PGx programs.


  • M.Ed. or MS or MA in a directly related field.
  • Prior assessment experience in higher education or pharmacy academia.
  • Thorough knowledge of assessment theory and practice.
  • Familiarity with current assessment tools and resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess curricular effectiveness and student learning, and suggest improvements based on the results.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
  • Effective presentation skills.


  • Ability to provide effective feedback and coaching.
  • Ability to adapt to changing teaching and learning environments and content-delivery methods.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities, meet deadlines, and manage time.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail, and internet use.
  • Commitment to continuous self-improvement and professional development.
  • Understanding of current pharmacy education and practice is preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience with external accreditation processes is preferred.
  • Record of scholarly activity is preferred.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time, exempt position with hours that may include some evenings and weekends.
