Job Description

AnchorFree is seeking a Sr. Director of Engineering and Ops. This is a key management role and this individual will be a major stakeholder in driving the direction and building blocks to get AnchorFree to a billion users. Strong leadership is imperative, as this is a key leadership role within the organization. Integrity, strength of character, ability to thrive under pressure, humility, reliability and surefooted confidence are all integral attributes of the management for this role. Be responsible getting AnchorFree's Hotspot Shield application to a billion users, through building a scalable service with software and network infrastructure, that has excellent performance and generates consistent and predictable revenues.

You will do:
  • In this position you are going to be working directly with engineers and ops members of the team.
  • You are going to be working with new innovations in the network technologies and client technologies and making sure they perform in production.
  • You will be tasked with inspiring and managing 25+ engineers and ops people that deliver products and services to millions of users B2C experience is a must.
  • You are going to be responsible for production KPI's such as service levels and user
  • You will be able to set priorities for your team that would be aligned with business priorities and that drive revenues.
  • You will launch products that are going to effect millions of users at a push of a button.

  • 5+ years of software development experience
  • 5+ + years of leadership experience
  • Start-up experience is a must.
  • Experience with managing both software development and SAAS is a must.
  • Managing, mentoring and growing teams.
  • Must have solid understanding of networking, network routing, client-server architecture.
  • Proven track record of managing large production environments

Required Skills and Experience
  • Results Oriented - maintain responsibility over Production KPI's {service levels, user metrics, revenues}; daily responsibility for KPIs; ability to make data driven decisions on product, service optimizations, and adjustments. Drive users and revenues.
  • Planning - Experienced in translating brainstorming sessions into specific qualified and quantified functions. Ability to develop detailed plans with specific goals, priorities, timelines and budgets to effectuate ideas into products and product feature sets.
  • Architecture - Architect that can lead the specification and development effort of the comprehensive software, infrastructure, and application architectures with consideration to timelines, scalability, globalization, security, and privacy.
  • Code Reviews - technical acumen to perform code reviews and implement best practices for code creation and documentation
  • People Manager - Extremely strong manager of people, in-house and external development resources to ensure projects meet or exceed deliverable timelines, functional objectives, and security standards. You need to know how to build a positive work environment while moving the team beyond their comfort zone to do quality work on deadline.
  • Process Manager - Diligent manager of the development lifecycle with agile methodologies with the ability to mentor team members in these methodologies.
  • Team Building - Well connected to the community at-large to recruit and attract top-notch talent to grow the team. The proper candidate will know, will have experience with and be respected by a slew of people from various development disciplines.
  • Discipline - Experience in SAAS products is an absolute MUST!
  • Development - Strong and active developer with experience in:

- Structured, general purpose programming languages such as C/C++
- Scripting languages such as Python
- API development Web front-ends and web User Experience.
  • Understanding of Web back-ends
  • Experienced in the QA process to drive quality
