•Responsible for the efficient operation of various manufacturing departments in the efforts to meet production goals and standards.
•Provide the necessary direction and support for supervisors / lead personnel to include yet not limited to operators in order to maximize performance in designated
organizational units with quality and safety as your main focus.
*Maintain production goals on a daily basis that are consistent with monthly requirements. (i.e., production per machine, quality control and non conforming material / waste % within company standards).
*Provide overview and direction to key personnel in order to maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment.
*Daily evaluation of plant requirements (maintenance, equipment and materials). Effectively communicate and direct the appropriate personnel or department to achieve or obtain production and quality goals.
*Provide daily clear and detailed information to all shift supervisors and or operator personnel of expectations and develop a corrective action plan (documented if needed) for any deviations from the company's goals and objectives.
*Complete daily follow up and provide direction of corrective action for the key plant personnel.
*Develop and/or review all plant job descriptions to insure that they are correct, complete and contain enough information to allow the company to succeed in obtaining its goals and allow the management to enforce corrective actions as well as bring full accountability.
*Insure that each employee under your direct supervision has read and completely understands his / hers job description and requirements set forth for their job, also make certain that each employee has signed and dated said job description and the original copy is returned the HR department and is a part of their permanent record. Accountability is key for a manager and without this tool being used and followed you will not be able to perform your role as a manager correctly.
*Plan and facilitate daily production meetings that are time sensitive and allows open discussion to inform the key personnel of company goals and objectives and to correct the direction of manufacturing, if necessary. Use meetings to promote a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging subordinates to come up with cost reductions through method improvements, decreased scrap or waste, reduced material costs, etc.
*Review and recommend changes to the employee handbook that conform to the company's direction. This should include but is not limited to Employee Recognition programs for when goals and objectives are met as well as Discipline procedures when goals are surpassed or not met.
*Schedule weekly meetings with purchasing to insure that all raw materials are to arrive in time to meet production requirements, without overstocking.
*Develop a complete comprehensive team work environment that allows each work cell to achieve its goals.
*Identify problem areas in the manufacturing process through direct interaction and hour by hour monitoring. Coordinate and work "hands on" to put corrective action in place.
*Interact with customers, Customer service, Sales and other Company representative as needed.
*Assure good communication with employees on each shift. Remain flexible with scheduling personal time to allow working any shift where presence is required to resolve concerns.
*Assure that all Company policies and rules are administered in an equitable, timely, and consistent manner.
*Responsible for providing a safe work environment by administration of Company safety rules and policies. Maintain sensitivity to OSHA laws effecting employees.
*Develop and maintain a current "to-do-list" that all floor supervision and or key personnel can work off of when machines go down unscheduled. (i.e., re-grading materials, sorting and down stacking, preventative maintenance items, sorting or cutting back defective material, employees going home and avoiding working a double schedule to meet production.
*Past experience in custom manufacturing environment or the equivalent of time spent in a manufacturing atmosphere that is in line with the skills required for this plant managers requirements.
*Must be proficient in ERP inventory systems.
*Must have knowledge of wood working equipment such as but not limited to: double end tenor, drum sanders, lamination equipment (Hot/Cold), side matcher, shapers, planer, gang rip sap, panel saws, and various cross cut saws.
*Must posses excellent written and verbal communication skills.
*Must have proven leadership skills demonstrated in a team environment.
*Must have proven conflict resolution skills.
*Must be self-motivated and able to operate effectively with little direction once trained.
