Job Description


Tends equipment to blend citrus fruit juices from concentrate and fresh ingredients. Hooks up own lines and opens valves to permit juices to flow from extractor machines or tank farm to holding tanks. Fills blending tanks with required amounts of specified juices and in some cases, other ingredients. Makes necessary adjustments to batch by taking measurements of BRIX, color, etc., and using some judgment as well as standard procedures for correcting. Turns on mechanical agitators in blending tanks to mix contents, and pumps mixture to deoiling and pasteurizing machines.

  • Retrieve raw materials and record identifying information on internal records.
  • Inspect, measure and weigh ingredients.
  • Initiate processing of ingredients in batch tank.
  • Conduct quality analysis of product sample against standards and enter data in computer software system(s).
  • Ability to operate valves and pumps.
  • Oversee the blending of multiple beverage components to comply with the specifications and regulations set forth by Whitlock Packing Corporation, FDA, DOC, USDA, and GMPs.
  • Check and record item codes, lot numbers and other pertinent information from ingredients that ensures accurate traceability at all times.
  • Able to measure, dump and blend food components for production line(s).
  • Obtain samples for QA analytical testing to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Conduct routine comparisons of products against established standards in regard to color, aroma, texture and flavor.
  • Identify and place on hold status non-conforming ingredients.
  • Maintain the blending area in a highly sanitary manner at all times.
  • Perform CIPs and Kosherizations when the product order requires it.
  • Transfer products from and to multiple locations.
  • Disassemble pumps, valves and line connections for cleaning and inspection.
  • Demonstrate excellent job performance and attendance on a consistent and continuous basis.
  • Communicate quality and maintenance issues to management.
  • Possess strong technical skills and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Effectively utilize conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to make decisions independently.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Inventory software.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Pay Schedule
We are a 24/7 operation with 3 shifts. Applicant must be flexible in regards to work schedule. Shift & department assignments are subject to change based on business needs.
