    DESCRIPTION


    The Department of Urban Planning and Public Policy in the School of Social Ecology invites applications for a pool of qualified lecturers to teach courses and professional development workshops in the Master of Urban and Regional Planning (MURP) program. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from quarter to quarter, depending on the needs of the program and may begin as early as Fall 2017.

    We are interested in applicants who can teach practice- and skills-oriented courses and/or workshops in the following related areas of urban and regional planning: environmental impact assessment, geographic information systems and spatial analysis, housing and economic development, planning analytical methods, professional writing and communication, site planning and development, transportation planning and analytical methods, and urban design principles and software applications.
    In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties could include preparing course materials (syllabus, assignments, etc.), maintaining a course website, holding office hours, assigning grades, and advising students.

    Applicants should have an advanced degree (minimally a Master's degree or equivalent degree) and/or relevant practice experience in a field appropriate to the course or workshop (e.g., Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Planning, or Landscape Architecture). Professional certification (AICP, LEED, etc.) and experience of teaching practice-oriented planning courses are preferred but not required.
