Duties: Reporting to the Manager of ISC Enterprise Command Center, work under limited supervision, performing network maintenance, administration and installation. Monitor network performance of PennNet, AirPennNet, MAGPI Gigapop, Data Centers and their components. Utilizing troubleshooting tools, promptly dispatch and investigate IP Voice, 802.11Wireless, Client Servers, Data Center Facilities and PennNet Wired network problems. Create, address and validate Remedy trouble tickets and update appropriate groups. Interface with ISC Client Care, Hire IT, Host Services and Local Support Personnel on network, hosting and facilities problems. Periodically perform wireless health surveys, wire inspections, data closet/data center investigations and closet cleanups. Lead or assist on large-scale network equipment upgrade projects that involve replacing end of life equipment with current approved devices. Such projects require a thorough quality assurance checkup pre/post upgrade involving terminating and certifying fiber, testing wireless health, inspecting environment, commissioning and decommissioning of Client and Service Owner equipment, VoIP, PennNet connections and monitoring newly installed equipment. Provide metrics, KPI's and Analytics for ECC supported services as required. Escort access for guests and vendors after normal working hours. Participate in first tier on-call rotation. Manage your work log in the Office Management System Database and dispatch to installation assignments in a timely manner. Participate in Infrastructure Operations Working group. Assist with the daily workflow of the Assets Management database (I.R.I.S.). Manage daily updates to show changes made to Network Assets, Data Service, Wall plates, and Vlans. Other duties include on-site event support, meetings with clients, participation in disaster recovery, testing and evaluating potential tools.
Regular hours are 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Hours outside the regular daily work schedule or in addition to 35-hours workweek will be scheduled and requested in advance if possible. On occasion, additional hours may be requested without prior notification. Required for occasional coverage of special events, holiday and weekend support when needed.
Qualifications: Associates Degree and experience installing and troubleshooting networking problems & maintaining IP routed networks or an equivalent combination of education and experience; familiarity with the UNIX operating system; solid knowledge of Ethernet, TCP/IP, SNMP, 802.1X and 802.11. Expert knowledge of standard wiring components and techniques, and data networking electronics such as routers, Ethernet switches, terminal servers, 802.11 wireless access points, and 802.11 wireless controllers. Strong theoretical and practical understanding of the OSI model, WAN technologies and LAN technologies. Solid understanding of SIP based VoIP. Strong verbal & written communications skills; solid leadership & team skills & ability to work under minimal supervision within context of his/her job responsibilities. Any of the following certifications would be a plus: CCNA, or JNCIA. Knowledge of any of the following would be a plus: Programming & HTML experience.
