Posting Summary:
The Miller Center seeks a FACULTY COORDINATOR to provide administrative and logistical support to its full-time and shared scholars and Senior Fellows. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Presidential Studies, the Faculty Coordinator will:

- Coordinate logistics for and help execute scholarly events within budget, managing invitation lists and registration data, serving as primary contact for participants, ensuring all required materials are available (printed programs, PowerPoint presentations, etc.), assisting with vendors and event set-up and breakdown, and debriefing and formulating recommendations for future events
- Perform a range of general administrative duties, from tracking and reporting media appearances for scholars, assisting in compilation of weekly activity reports, managing travel logistics, and processing travel and expense reimbursement requests to administering research funds, interpreting policies and procedures, and providing research support for scholars
- Participate in and lend support to Center-wide programs and activities, including attending regular events management meetings, helping with Governing Council meetings and public events, and fulfilling other tasks, as needed

This position extends through September 29, 2019, subject to performance. Renewal is possible, subject to performance, availability of funds, and need. Review of applications will begin on August 14, 2017. The position is open until filled.

- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in American history, American politics, communications, or public relations, or a closely-related field
- Up to 4 years of experience in an office setting required, preferably in higher education, government, policy institution, media, or closely-related organization
- Experience providing administrative support to multiple people, required
- Experience working with faculty, preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, required
- Strong planning and coordinating skills, required
- Ability to communicate effectively, in writing and orally, with proper grammar and usage, required
- Ability to use appropriate telephone and other communications protocols, required
- Ability to handle multiple and competing priorities effectively, required
- Ability to accomplish projects and tasks independently and on time, required
- Ability to be flexible, even-keeled under pressure, and consistently professional, required
- Ability to work flexible hours on a limited basis, required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, required
- Strong customer service focus, preferred
- Experience with the University of Virginia's travel and expense reimbursement system and procurement policies, preferred
- Interest in American history, politics, and/or public policy, preferred
