Job Summary The Safety and Compliance Associate I position involves an entry foundational level of safety and compliance work under direct direction. This position functions as the entry level position for environmental health safety and compliance programs. The Safety and Compliance Associate I must maintain a high degree of professionalism and integrity in representing the University and model a culture of safety. The Safety and Compliance Associate I is a point-of-contact within specific programmatic areas for campus departments, including areas such as research, clinical, academic, athletic, and support services. The Safety and Compliance Associate I is responsible for providing health, safety, and/or compliance services and assisting in the University goal of a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace and academic environment, under direct supervision. The work of a Safety and Compliance Associate I is primarily administrative in nature and involves safety and compliance related tasks of very low complexity. Other responsibilities include actively promoting and managing specific aspects of safety and compliance and providing assistance to faculty, staff, and students. Minimum Qualifications Completion of an Associate's degree and 2 years of experience in a safety and compliance office or a high school diploma and 5 years of experience in a safety and compliance office, preferably in an educational institution; or any equivalent combination of experience and education. Some knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations as well as nationally accepted standards, guidelines, and other related conventions on safety and compliance. Must possess the ability to prepare clear, accurate, and informative reports containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations along with superior oral presentation and other communication skills. Must have outstanding human relations and leadership skill and the ability to function in a team environment. Must be able to work independently on multiple simultaneous projects. Professional and/or technical certification for the applicable specialty is highly desirable.
