Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's degree required. Preferred in biology, microbiology, or other related laboratory science.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
- A minimum of 1 year job experience in a lab is preferred.
- Prefix assignment determined by years of relevant work experience.
The UW Carbone Cancer Center Tissue Acquisition Resource will house human tissue samples for use in research studies. This position reports to the Tissue Acquisition Resource Research Program Manager and will be involved in collecting and distributing human tissue samples as well as processing and storing blood and bone marrow samples.
- Ease and ability to communicate effectively with diverse clinic and research staff. Excellent organization skills with attention to detail is required. Demonstrated ability to use computer software and databases required. Skills with digital photography and histology preferred.
- The incumbent is expected to become compliant with national standards regarding tissue collection, storage, and distribution.
- TB test required. Hep B vaccination will be recommended at the time of employment.
BioBank Core hours: 7:30am - 5:30pm. Schedule: flexible, can work out at time of hire.
