Job Summary: The Institute of Higher Education at the University of Georgia seeks qualified applicants for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Higher Education starting August 2018. This position is distinct from posting #2017_00415F (Quantitative Methods). At a minimum the applicant will have completed a Ph.D. or Ed.D. with expertise in social, organizational, or political theory and in qualitative research methods. The candidate will be expected to teach in the Institute's academic programs, advise students, and conduct independent research. Minimum Qualifications: The applicant must have completed a doctorate in higher education or a related social-science field. Prior faculty experience is not required for appointment at the assistant level. Appointment at the associate level requires prior or current faculty status in a tenure or tenure-track line position and ability to meet the criteria for appointment at the associate level set by the University of Georgia. Appointment at the assistant or associate level will be guided by the candidate's prior experience and scholarly qualifications and determined by "UGA's criteria for faculty appointment, promotion and tenure":

Preferred Qualifications: Our preference is for candidates with in-depth preparation in qualitative research methodologies; an established program of scholarly research on postsecondary education; and a minimum of three years of successful teaching experience at the graduate level. Priority will be given to applicants with a history of securing external research funding and with expertise, experience, or interest in scholarship on comparative and international higher-education issues.
