General Description of Position:
The primary role of this position will be to execute various aspects of an ongoing research project investigating both pathogen-derived and synthetic[BG1] inhibitors of enzymes that function in the human innate immune system. Supporting roles in research projects generally related to protein structure/function may be required. The successful candidate will be expected to plan and conduct experiments in conjunction with the PI, analyze data using computational tools, and provide written reports summarizing his/her work to the PI, other laboratory personnel, and collaborators outside of the University.Diversity and Inclusion: Kansas State University embraces diversity, and promotes inclusion in every sector of the institution. Education: BS in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, or a closely aligned field.Preferred Qualifications:
Education: M.S. or Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, or a closely aligned field
Experience: Candidates must have at least two years relevant experience in research laboratories in the areas of biochemistry, biology, chemistry, or other closely aligned fields.Familiarity with molecular biology techniques including PCR, DNA sequencing, plasmid design and manipulation. Experience in expression and purification of recombinant proteins, and familiarity with approaches for characterization of proteins using spectroscopy, electrophoresis, and related methods. Experience with the design and implementation of assays to assess the function of macromolecules and potential inhibitors thereof. Evidence of successfully working in highly collaborative environments with effective communication skills. Special Instructions to Applicants:
