This is a full-time, benefits eligible, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
Under general supervision, the incumbent performs a variety of general office clerical functions of a responsible and complex nature involving the processing of transcript requests for a large number of students (approximately 30,000 enrolled each fall and spring semester and 8,000 enrolled during the summer semesters). The person in this position will ensure that official transcripts be processed as efficiently and accurately as possible. It is expected that the incumbent will be able to handle sensitive situations, using tact and diplomacy in assisting students, the public, and SDSU staff. Efficiency is also required as transcripts must be printed and mailed from the Office of the Registrar within 3-5 days after the request is submitted. It is expected that the incumbent consistently enforce the Federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974.

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $2,666 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $2,539 - $4,202 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Entry to this classification requires fundamental written and oral communication skills, including a sound foundation in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; an ability to understand standard office procedures; an ability to operate standard office equipment; an ability to learn office technology systems; an ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations; and typing and keyboard skills.
These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through completion of a high school program or its equivalent and some experience in an office environment.
Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills
Experience working in a university setting, preferably a Registrar’s Office
Proficiency using MS Office, a Student Information System (SIS), and scanning hardware and software.
