RESEARCH SPECIALIST A
Duties: The Geffen Laboratory studies the neuronal brain circuits for auditory processing and learning, using state-of-the-art techniques. The technician will conduct research and provide technical support to several projects studying auditory brain function using imaging, electrophysiological, optogenetic and behavioral methods in the brains of awake rodents (http://www.med.upenn.edu/hearing ). Applicants should have a STEM background (Engineering, Math, CS, Physics, Biology, or Neuroscience) and have a passionate interest in how the brain works. Responsibilities include: rodent behavioral training, collection and analysis of neuronal data, organization and maintenance of laboratory logs and databases, brain histology and immunohistochemistry of brain tissue, laboratory maintenance. Ability to keep accurate records and excellent organizational skills are essential.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required, 1-2 years preferred working in a neuroscience or biomedical research laboratory
