Required Qualifications: (As Evidenced by an Attached Resume)

Associate's degree. Two (2) years of full time research experience directly related to a project/program in a Laboratory environment. Competence in research activities including data management and performing standard lab techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

BS in Biochemistry. Relevant work experience and knowledge of molecular and cell biology, including experience in real-time RT-PCR, gel electrophoresis, mammalian cell culture, lipid techniques, soft agar colony formation assays.

Brief Description of Duties:

The Research Technician II will work under the guidance of a Research Assistant Professor in the Lipid Cancer Lab.

Skills used include: mammalian cell culture, siRNA, real-time PCR, gel electrophoresis, cell viability assays, colony formation assays, analysis of cellular lipids, immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy.

  • Assist with maintaining mammalian breast cancer cell lines in culture, plate for experiments.
  • Assist with performing cell transfection of siRNA and overexpression, prepare protein and RNA, perform protein gel electrophoresis and immunoblotting, perform real-time PCR analysis of gene expression.
  • Assist with complete research of scientific literature.
  • Maintain physical experimental records in lab books and electronic copies of data on lab servers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Special Notes: This is a full time appointment. This is a full time appointment. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
