Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

The position serves as Assistant to the Department Chair, Human Resource Manager and Office Manager for the Department of Psychology. This position plans, coordinates and performs complex administrative, management and support activities for the Department of Psychology and the Chair of the Psychology Department.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Bachelor's degree and 2 years related experience in business management, public administration, or administrative services; or equivalency.

Preferred Qualifications

Extensive knowledge of University Policies and Procedures, procedures and format for the Tenure and Promotion documents, and thorough knowledge of University human resources policies and procedures preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Ability to analyze and present ideas in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing. Strong team player skills and the ability to work harmoniously with a diverse workforce. Must have writing skills sufficient to compose and edit a variety of documents using correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation, with the ability to pay close attention to detail and proofread work carefully. Good organizational, time management, customer service and problem solving skills, and the ability to work accurately and meet deadlines with frequent interruptions. Work requires initiative and independent judgment. Must be proactive and creative, identifying process improvement opportunities.
