Manager - Departmental Accounting

Position Category: Staff - Full-Time

The Manager of Departmental Accounting is primarily responsible for facilitating and overseeing accounting, reporting, financial analysis and budgeting for the individual colleges and schools within the University. This includes management of departmental Junior Accountants and the Business Office interns. The Manager of Departmental Accounting is also responsible for finance and accounting security, implementation and review of internal controls, financial training, and assisting the Controller with his or her management responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and two years of related experience plus CPA Certification; or, a Master’s degree in Accounting plus CPA Certification (or completion of CPA within 18 months).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures, internal auditing, internal controls, federal tax regulations, and fund accounting.
  • Knowledge of theories and techniques involved in analysis of financial data.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and software, including spreadsheets, word processing, graphics presentation, accounting software, and Windows operating systems.
  • Knowledge of Banner and University policies and procedures related to accounting, budgeting, and purchasing.
  • Skills with problem solving, decision-making, human relations, and supervision.
  • Ability to review, analyze, and prepare accurate financial reports and budgets.
  • Ability to communicate, written and orally.

Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.

Physical Requirements:
Required to travel to various UVU departments on and off the main campus.

Pay Range: $45,914 - $61,218
