Responsibilities:

The Global Experience Office (GEO) is committed to providing Northeastern students with intellectually challenging and culturally enriching opportunities throughout the world. These experiences complement students' on-campus studies and prepare them to become effective leaders in an increasingly interconnected world. Through study abroad, faculty-led Dialogues of Civilization, and Global Co-op, GEO facilitates global experiences for over 2,700 Northeastern students going abroad each year and 200 international exchange students coming to Boston annually. GEO plays an active role in all of Northeastern's travelers' health and safety.

GEO seeks a qualified candidate to serve as the Travel Safety Education and Communications Manager (TSECM) - a key position on GEO's professional team. The TSECM works collaboratively with the Northeastern International Security Office (ISO) to educate Northeastern travelers about the policies of the International Security and Safety Assessment Committee (ISSAC) and ensure compliance across Northeastern departments and colleges. Being on-call after normal business hours is a part of the job requirement.
The successful candidate:
- Drafts, updates, and disseminates health and safety ISSAC-approved protocols and communication plans to all GEO constituents;
- Oversees GEO's health and safety training, website materials, and print publications;
- Leads comprehensive health and safety orientations for students and faculty in order to achieve appropriate levels of awareness and emergency preparedness of all Northeastern programs and travelers.
- Works with ISO to improve incident prevention through contingency planning. Guides GEO and program leaders through the development of program-specific contingency plans;
- Manages the process of ISSAC petitions for high-risk destinations;
- Serves as the GEO contact and communication node for international incidents;
- Serves as a member of the international response team and responds to student, parent, and other constituent's questions and concerns.
- Collaborates with global co-op faculty, graduate deans, and program heads to ensure proper compliance with all global travel requirements; and
- Reviews student conduct history with the Director of Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution (OSCCR) for applicants to global Co-op, study abroad or Dialogues of Civilization and makes recommendations on their international travel viability.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable handling a high volume of communication; be on call after work hours, weekends, and holidays; and, will be able to confidently, timely, accurately, and appropriately provide direction and answers to a broad variety of audiences.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
Experience: A track record of expert communications with experience coordinating trainings; 3 - 5 years of experience in an office environment and a minimum of 2 years of experience in incident management with the ability to have difficult conversations.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, database management and study abroad CRMs.

Education/Skills: At least a Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred). Excellent organizational and communication skills; strong attention to detail; ability to keep track of competing priorities, learn new software systems, meet deadlines and work independently, as well as part of a team. Must be comfortable meeting and communicating with a variety of audiences at Northeastern and with people from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds.

Desirable Qualifications:
Experience studying and/or working abroad. Experience working with students and in higher education settings.
