This position is for a research technician who will work in the Biomaterials Design Group (https://www.northeastern.edu/biomaterialsdesign/) in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Northeastern University. The candidate will be required to carry out independent bench-level research in close partnership with academic trainee(s) (graduate student or postdoctoral fellow) and the PI. Responsibilities will include experiment design and implementation, and requires proficiency in cell culture and experience with laboratory animal models, including sample collection in the laboratory rat or mouse.
Must have a BA/BS (or equivalent) in Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline and experience in supporting faculty and staff within a fast-paced research office setting.
Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills are required to assist and collaborate to complete this multidisciplinary research project. Candidate must be able to prioritize work, develop and write standard operating procedures and protocols for lab tasks, manage multiple tasks and follow through independently. Competency using a variety of computer software and Internet application including Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), EndNote, and Internet research engines (ex. PubMed). Prior experience working within academic environments is helpful.
This appointment is funded by an award received from an outside source. The duration of this position is contingent upon the continued availability of funding from this award at its current financial level.
