SR. DIR., MAJOR GIFTS - PRATT SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING
OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY: The Senior Director of Major Gifts will develop strategies and initiatives to identify, cultivate,track, and solicit alumni, unaffiliated prospects, friends, and foundations for gifts in support of the Pratt School of Engineering, its academic departments and its research centers, institutes and initiatives. The Senior Director of Major Gifts will work in consultation with the department chairs and the center directors to support the educational and research needs of the school and its academic departments through principal gifts, major gifts, annual fund gifts, corporate gifts,foundation grants and planned gifts. The Senior Director of Major Gifts will report to the Associate Dean and Director of Development and will be a key member of an energetic and highly productive advancement team. Job Responsibilities: • Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospects with major gift potential of $100,000 or higher, including some principal gift prospects • Develop and manage a portfolio of prospects (200+) and work to identify new prospects for the Pratt School of Engineering and University initiatives that benefit Pratt • Work with university administration, faculty, board leadership,volunteers, academic department chairs, center directors to develop and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies for major and principal gift prospects, • Solicit annual fund leadership gifts of $1,000+ from engineering alumni and current engineering parents. Work closely with the Annual Fund team to increase giving levels of existing leadership donors. • Travel with the Dean of Engineering, Pratt Faculty, University President, and other University leaders to cultivate and solicit prospects or attend fundraising events; involve top Duke University academicians, leaders and volunteers in fund raising efforts. • Work closely with the Pratt development team and the University Development Office, to coordinate prospect and donors strategies and provide accurate and timely reporting on gifts and commitments; • Represent the school within the broader campus development community by coordinating cultivation and solicitation strategies for prospects with multiple interests; and by contributing to the refinement of policies and practices that will enhance the University’s advancement goals. • Perform other related duties as assigned.
