Job Description

On Site Project Manager/Lead Installer

COMMUNICATION MANAGEMENT, INC. (CMI), South Carolina's premiere network cabling and Installation group with offices in Columbia, SC; Charleston, SC; Greenville, SC and Myrtle Beach SC; has openings in the Charleston area. We are seeking qualified candidates looking to begin or resume their career in the Telecommunications Industry as an on-site Project Manager/Lead Installer.

Candidates should have the following skillsets:

  • Terminates fiber optic cabling using various methods (field polishing and splicing)
  • Proficient with test equipment
  • Creates original pre-built drawings including importing from AutoCad and/or creating scaled originals using PDF's
  • Creates labels of all kinds (cable wrap, faceplate, and patch panel).
  • Downloads, organizes and verifies test results for any size project
  • Able to comprehend and reconcile contract drawings and specifications
  • Has moderate to extensive knowledge base of access control, cameras and audio/video systems

Project Manager (Team Leader)

Technical Knowledge

Project Manager (Team Leader)

Management / Organizational Skills

  1. Determines project scheduling including working hours, man-power requirements, as well as input on overall branch Daily Project Schedule


  1. Able to visualize and be mindful of the entire installation process of a project to plan resources, but without sacrificing short term objectives.


  1. Completes review and reconciliation of project quotes, drawings and take-offs to confirm project design and bill-of-materials.


  1. Knowledgeable of assigned project specifications and customer design requirements.


  1. Creates, modifies and maintains daily punch lists for multiple in-progress projects.


  1. Contributes to timely invoicing of assigned projects.


  1. Adamantly completes project coordination tasks on daily basis, with rare exception, including updating project drawings, updating punchlists, building materials, tracking clocked versus quoted hours and emailed customer updates.
  2. Ensures their team's work is completed quickly and correctly (responsible for project efficiency quality of work).


  1. Makes plans for days and weeks ahead to guarantee efficient and adequate man power and materials are present to complete all ongoing projects.


  1. Tracks production hours on projects to ensure maximum efficiency.


  1. Able to purchase materials using CMI procurement procedures, with little to no supervision.


  1. Properly utilizes branch team members and corporate support staff.


  1. Compose change order for assigned projects using CMI matrix and quotes, including tracking change order status.


  1. Efficiently closes down projects, including Project Documentation with little to no supervision.


  1. Keeps company vehicle and tools neat, clean and in constant state of readiness.


Project Manager (Team Leader)

Leadership
  1. Regularly supervises (2) or more Installers and Lead Installers in daily tasks.


  1. Works in the field alongside Helpers, Installers and Lead Installers during installation hours (rarely needs time away from a project during installation hours).


  1. Takes ownership of a project and sees it to completion.


  1. Inspires installers to improve their performance and capabilities.


  1. Motivates themselves and team members throughout projects.


  1. Trains others in all installation skills (jacks, punching panels, fiber termination, etc.).


  1. Immediately address employee grievances (including updating Branch Operations Manager).


  1. Swiftly follows up on employee questions and requests.


  1. Holds their team responsible for daily accomplishments (good or bad) and is responsible for corrective actions within their branch.


  1. Completes installer performance reviews.


  1. Contributes input to and/or conducts Installer 1 and 2, as well as Lead Installer performance reviews.


  1. Address complaints and dissatisfaction in private with supervisors.


  1. Adamantly adheres to CMI installation policies and procedures.


  1. Gives direction well, knows to include relevant detail to ensure clear understanding of given tasks
