Maintenance Mechanic, Team Lead


Job Description Summary:

GW Facilities Services department is searching for a full-time Maintenance Mechanic, Team Lead to work in the HVAC Shop, Monday thru Friday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, with rotating weekends. The Maintenance Mechanic, Team Lead will be well-trained, highly organized and professional who takes pride in their work and can perform various customer service duties as required throughout the day. The desired candidate is a professional with a flexible schedule available for on-call duty and weekend work as needed.
The Maintenance Mechanic, Team Lead assists with the assignment and coordination and/or execution of activities within the shop and possesses the ability to walk, stand, sit and perform repetitive duties. The Team Lead reports to the HVAC Supervisor.
This Team Lead performs varied tasks requiring special manual skill and a thorough and comprehensive knowledge of the processes involved in heating and venting systems, lighting, basic electrical, plumbing, and basic carpentry.
Maintenance Mechanic, Team Lead duties include:
• Maintains and repairs/replaces HVAC equipment including but not limited to piping and pumps, air handling equipment, electrical motors used in HVAC systems, window air conditioners, PTAX and DX systems.
• Performs maintenance, testing and repairs on electronic, electrical, pneumatic and DDC systems as related to refrigeration and HVAC systems.
• Ensures materials and supplies are available for staff, such as tools, equipment, and replacement parts.
• May serve as primary point of contact for contracts or projects and as departmental representative in meetings or projects.
• Shop Team Lead duties as required; including outage coverage
• Team Lead provides oversight and quality assurance to other personnel on work products, operations, including inspections. In the absence of the Supervisor the lead provides supervision formally. Assists Supervisor with preparation of weekly work schedules, prioritization and distribution of work including service calls and preventive maintenance.
• Performs other work related duties as requested. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a High school diploma/GED, or equivalent combination of training and experience, plus 4 years of relevant professional experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

Four or more years of experience with either a) machine troubleshooting and repair including pumps, air handlers, bearings, blowers and related equipment or b) troubleshooting with both high pressure and low pressure refrigeration. Trade school training in HVAC or related field.

Familiarity with mobile device such as ipod or ipad for daily work assignments, time management, materials purchasing, and reporting.
