Join a team of professionals dedicated to supporting adult students! Excelsior College, a regionally accredited, virtual, private, nonprofit institution of higher learning is seeking dynamic applicants for the position of Student Success Coach in the Student Success Center.


Summary


The student success coach supports at-risk students at Excelsior College. This will be done through high quality, tailored multi-channel coaching using the College's coaching methodology and systems which support student success as defined by Excelsior College's strategic goals. The incumbent in this position will be trained in the College's coaching methodology and systems. The student success coach will work with a team of coaches in the Student Success Center and collaborate with staff across the College to ensure proactive support throughout the student life cycle.


Responsibilities

  • Use telephone, email, texting, mobile app, social media, and occasional in-person interaction to build student relationships quickly
  • Proactively work to improve student experience, engagement with coaching, credit accumulation, retention, and degree completion at Excelsior College
  • Protect the confidentiality of student personal information and comply with FERPA and College privacy and security policies
  • Coach students on developing a plan to achieve their academic and career goals by assessing values/goals, needs and obstacles
  • Collaborate with other College staff to provide comprehensive support throughout the student life cycle
  • Understand student risk factors and project, assess, and report on student likelihood to persist and succeed
  • Participate in, and take ownership of, his/her professional development by attending coaching quality/skill training
  • Contribute as an individual coach and a team member to advancing the College's strategic goals
  • Prioritize and strategize quickly in order to support student roster
  • Contribute posts to the Success Files blog


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • Two years work experience in education, business, counseling, or related field
  • Knowledge of higher education
  • Ability to work independently, juggle tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively to manage a large student roster
  • Ability to weigh in on factors for prioritizing students for outreach
  • Ability to retain and utilize large amounts of detailed information
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Technology savvy; able to use contact management software and mobile applications
  • Ability to cultivate strong student and co-worker relationships and work effectively cross functionally
  • Must be willing and able to work evening and weekend hours and be flexible to adjust schedule as needed to best meet student needs and availability
