Occupational Summary
The Department of Anesthesiology at Duke Health is a research and clinical leader in the Health Care industry. The ideal candidate will lead the development of software systems to provide automation and advanced analytics for the department's business finance team. These systems are primarily reliant upon MS SQL, MS Excel, MS Access, Quickbooks, SAP, and Great Plains. You will be heavily involved with analysis, design, development, implementation and deployment of new and existing financial systems and applications. You should have experience with writing queries with SQL, designing database schemas, stored procedures, ETL general data processing tasks, reporting, as well as understanding how to integrate financial processes into the .NET technology stack. You will work directly with our financial team to gather requirements and deliver enhancements to new and existing processes.

Work Performed
  • Migrate existing Excel and Access tables to MS SQL databases.
  • Create user data entry forms tied to MS SQL databases.
  • Develop data integration programs and processes that import data from SAP and Great Plains accounting software packages into MS SQL.
  • Identify and document how applications and enterprise systems interact to support business processes.
  • Help re-engineer processes to deliver greater effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Design and develop programming systems making specific determinations about system performance; define functional specifications of the system for the appropriate hardware.
  • Maintain liaison with representatives of other University data processing operations, professional organizations and commercial software vendors to ensure utilization of current principles and techniques.
  • Prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications


Education

Work requires Bachelor's degree in mathematics or computer science or a computer-related field or equivalent coursework or technical training.

Experience

Work requires four years of progressive experience in operating system generation and maintenance, and related software support.OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Skills
  • Strong knowledge of MS SQL, including SSIS.
  • Ability to implement automation using programming languages (C# preferred).
  • Strong understanding and work experience in developing SQL tables.
  • Strong understanding of financial processes including payroll processing, profit and loss reporting, and accounting.
  • Ability to create database ETL processes for connecting disparate data sources to custom developed analytics.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Works well in mixed skillset team environment.
  • Good communication, especially with regard to project specification and system design documentation.
