General Summary: The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Coordinator for Multicultural Student Affairs & Latino Success. The Coordinator of Multicultural Student Affairs & Latino Success is a full-time professional member of the Division of Student Affairs reporting to the Director of Multicultural Student Affairs. The Coordinator for Multicultural Student Affairs & Latino Success contributes to the mission of the university by providing the campus community with opportunities to learn about and discuss social issues that focus on diversity, social justice, inclusion, and internationalism. As a valuable leader in the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, the Coordinator will assist and support in all efforts to support and retain underrepresented students by providing special assistance with personal, social or academic concerns, and other guidance. Also, the Coordinator assists the Director with providing resources to the entire campus community, including faculty and staff, regarding diversity, social justice, and related topics. The coordinator must be able to communicate (oral and written) in both English and Spanish. The full-time, benefit-eligible position does require occasional evening and weekend work. This position will be housed primarily on the Gainesville campus. However, some intercampus travel is required.

Job Duties & Responsibilities: The Coordinator for Multicultural Student Affairs & Latino Success will:
  • Advise and support the Latino Student Association (LSA) and additional MSA student organizations, as needed. Also, Collaborate with various offices regarding Latino outreach and retention effort.
  • Coordinate university-wide multicultural programming/events and cultural/ heritage months
  • Serve as a resource to inform the value of diversity by serving on University-wide committees, task forces, and other initiatives , and works collaboratively and cooperatively with, other campus offices
  • Oversee, manage and execute the Goizueta Latino Scholarship program and assist in the management and implementation of the Goizueta Scholarship program
  • Co-coordinate the assessment process for MSA, assisting with department reports and completing reports promptly.
  • Plan and coordinate the MSA Annual New Student Welcome each August and Weeks of Welcome Multicultural Event and MSA open House
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Director for MSA


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Must have ability to communicate (oral and written) in English and Spanish
  • Ability to write reports and other business correspondence
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to use the Internet and Microsoft Outlook
  • Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task


Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
  • Master's degree required, preferably in higher education or student affairs
  • Experience in a college or university setting preferred
