Postdoctoral Associate: Nanomaterials for Bone Regeneration
Location: Stevens Institute of Technology (SIT), Hoboken, New Jersey
A postdoc position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Xiaojun Yu (SIT).
Background: Development of nanomaterials for bone regeneration is an emerging research area. We seek a postdoctoral research associate for completion of tasks related to a funded grant.
Key Responsibilities: (1) Develop techniques to produce polymer fibers via electrospinning for placement within appropriate animal models of bone injury. (2) Learn appropriate surgical, histology, and imaging techniques for analysis of biomaterial interactions with bone tissue. (3) Learn and develop appropriate in vitro osteoblast and endothelial cell culture models to assess cellular response to fibrous materials. (4) Work with colleagues at SIT to develop collaborative projects of interest to the applicant. (5) Prepare documents for the dissemination of research findings at national meetings and/or publication in research journals.
Skills and Qualifications: Education Level: Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or Bone Biology (or appropriate discipline) with background in biomaterial development/characterization and/or exposure to animal models of bone injury.
