General Description of Position: The Agronomy Department at Kansas State University is looking for a Post-Doc Fellow to work on field, greenhouse and laboratory research activities related to wheat resistance to diseases. This individual will work closely with the USDA-ARS Manhattan team and conduct genomics and genetics research to identify and characterize genes resistance to important wheat diseases and transfer the genes into locally adapted wheat background to develop disease resistant germplasm. The Successful Candidate will: Work on field, greenhouse and laboratory research activities related to wheat resistance to diseases. This individual will work closely with the USDA-ARS Manhattan team and conduct genomics and genetics research to identify and characterize genes resistance to important wheat diseases and transfer the genes into locally adapted wheat background to develop disease resistant germplasm. Required Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Plant genetics and breeding, plant molecular biology or related field. Practical experience in wheat gene cloning and high-throughput marker development and deployment. Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in Genetics and Breeding. Experience with wheat QTL cloning, disease evaluation, next generation sequencing and genotyping-by-sequencing, and gene expression.
