Computer Science: Tenure-Track, Assistant Professor
Mathematics and Computer Science – Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Computer Science at the Assistant Professor rank beginning in August of the 2018-2019 academic year. Augustana College is a selective liberal arts college of approximately 2,500 students, most of whom live on a wooded 115-acre campus. Rock Island, Illinois, is part of the Illinois-Iowa Quad Cities along the Mississippi River, a diverse metropolitan area with 400,000 residents, located about three hours west of Chicago and 45 minutes east of Iowa City, home of the University of Iowa.
A PhD in Computer Science or a related discipline is required at or near the time of appointment. Applicants should be comfortable teaching a broad range of undergraduate CS courses. Faculty are evaluated based on evidence of teaching effectiveness, participation in scholarship and service to the college community. Faculty development benefits include a pre-tenure leave, professional meeting allowance, and institutional start up grants to promote your scholarly interests. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help shape the future of a small but vibrant computer science program.
