This is a part-time position (20 hours per week). JOB PURPOSE:
The Stanford Graduate School of Business Marketing & Communication Department is seeking a part-time editor to join the editorial team to tell the story of faculty research and the school experience. CORE DUTIES*: Research, write, and edit publications for style and substance.Create content to be disseminated through multiple platforms, including the Stanford GSB website, digital newsletters and Stanford Business magazine in consultation with the Editorial Director and others.Edit manuscripts for content, style, and organization.Check content for accuracy, and use own judgment in critiquing the work.Coordinate publication/editorial schedules, and monitor process in consultation with supervisor or client.Work within deadlines and cost constraints.Coordinate with writers, editors, photographer and others.Create varied types of content, using varied and creative formats. * - Other duties may also be assigned MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant work experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated understanding of the principles, terminology, procedures, and best practices of communications, public relations, and editorial content.Demonstrated ability to initiate and develop sources for features, news releases, and other content.Experience conducting source-gathering, interviewing administrators, and performing research for appropriate content and media.Demonstrated communication and writing skills.Considerable experience editing manuscripts for form, content, style, and organization.Demonstrated ability to collaborate and advise on effective writing, publication, and information-giving techniques to reach target audiences.Demonstrated experience of job-required software applications.Demonstrated ability to perform detailed work with high level of accuracy and attention to detail.Demonstrated knowledge of social media channels and using them to engage target audiences. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*: Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.Frequently stand/walk, sit, use a telephone, and grasp lightly/fine manipulation.Occasionally grasp forcefully, writing by hand.Rarely sort/file paperwork; lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds. * - Consistent with its obligations under the law, the University will provide reasonable accommodation to any employee with a disability who requires accommodation to perform the essential functions of his or her job.
