Position Summary

Operates, monitors, lubricates, and services gas and fluidized bed boilers and auxiliary equipment; determines the status of equipment by reading colored lights; empties ash hoppers by hand; performs basic laboratory analysis of water conditions and quality. Will be working swing shift. Duties associated with this position involve working in a noisy, hot, dusty environment;, wearing a respirator; working with asbestos and chemicals; and performing service work in confined areas; involves walking, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, and climbing ladders. This position is located in the Simon Power Plant.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Completion of a high school education; two years experience with steam production in either stationary or marine environments; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; frequent lifting of up to 75 pounds; provide own hand tools.

Desired Qualifications

Possession of a valid vehicle operator's license; licensed stationary engineer; knowledge of basic laboratory techniques; basic computer skills.
