Electrical EngineerPosition Summary
This position will provide engineering support for campus wide design projects and studies. Duties associated with this position include managing design consultants; design of electrical projects including, but not limited to, power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and communication systems as they apply to a large academic institution. Employee will serve as lead designer or design team member on collaborative project delivery teams on campus. Employee will assist electrical trades and other university team members solve complex electrical problems. Other duties will involve working at construction sites, access to work areas by ladder, scaffold, hatchways, ramps, and similar means; outdoor work on a variety of floor and ground surfaces including climbing and entry into confined spaces; visual inspection of construction work as essential elements of construction inspection, analysis, and support of maintenance operations functions.

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Electrical Engineering; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in the field of electrical engineering; including design, methods, materials, maintenance, and operation of appropriate systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Successful candidate must be experienced in CADD or REVIT and have extensive knowledge of the National Electric Code; as well as a sound understanding of common electrical construction practices and equipment.Desired Qualifications
Three years of progressive and related work experience or an Electrical Designer with 10-15 years of similar experience in electrical design and engineering. Five to ten years of experience in project administration and design, inspection of construction projects; lighting and lighting controls design; composing documents and project related correspondence, and fire alarm systems design. Additional skills sets should include knowledge of electrical equipment typically used in an institutional setting, electrical feeder and conduit sizing; and familiarity with over-current protection components and sizing practices.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite 2016, Computer Aided Facilities Management System; strong communication skills (oral and written); established problem solving skills; good customer relations/service skills; ability to work as an effective member of a team is essential; ability to multi‐task yet give attention to detail with frequent interruptions; ability to handle confidential material with complete discretion; self‐starter who possesses good decision making skills and demonstrates the ability to work independently, and on multiple projects simultaneously.
