Senior Application Service AnalystPosition Summary
The Sr. Application Services Analyst implements, operationally owns and supports a portfolio of mainly vended multi-tenant application services and related processes needed to deliver medium to highly complex integrated technical solutions in support of Michigan State University business needs. The analyst will provide both business and technical expertise while operating in a lead role in a cross-functional multi-stakeholder environment. Contributes directly to the analysis and technical tasks necessary to implement and operate the portfolio while ensuring delivered solutions service business needs in a timely, efficient and effective manner. The analyst is constantly striving to improve service and reduce cost. Participates and contributes to project proposals, planning, application rationalization, service purification, service improvement and strategic direction. Duties include serving as technical lead in the on-boarding or implementation of new application services delivering all necessary design, implementation artifacts and tasks including application selection, configuration, technical and business process integration, vendor management and stakeholder management as well as a service model that includes all necessary administration documentation, monitoring, SLA, run book, support staff plan and reporting; operationally owns and supports a portfolio of application services that includes product administration, security review, planning/implementing of patches/upgrades, creation/execution of integrated task lists, resolution of outages, performing root cause analysis, participating in change management and identification of technical landscape impact; assess and mitigate potential impacts to business processes, systems, infrastructure and customers caused by application services releases, enhancements, and configuration changes; provides communication and coordination with multiple teams, business units and vendors; independently meets with customers to establish and maintain relationships, determine requirements, communicate status and resolve issues; manages service delivery and application lifecycle; plan and forecast capacity demands of a high-performing team of technology professionals.Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or related information technology field, with coursework in an information technology specialization related to the area of employment; and five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in the areas of application service implementation, administration and operation business analysis or software application development and maintenance; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Desired Qualifications
• Experience with application configuration, implementation and integration including basic web protocols, web services, data transfer and reporting.
• Operation of application services including administration, security review, planning and implementing patches/upgrades, creation/execution of integrated task lists, vendor management, resolution of outages, performing root cause analysis, participating in change management, understanding and identification of technical landscape impact.
• Knowledge and experience with applying ITIL and/or ITSM principles in a production environment.
• Knowledge of information security standards such as PCI, FERPA and HIPPA.
