William Paterson University invites applications for the position of Assistant Director in the Office of Student Enrollment Services. This position assists the Associate Director in supporting the daily operations of the department with emphasis in expedited handling of student inquiries related to financial aid, student billing/payment and student records. S/he evaluates and implements system adjustments which enhance the availability/accessibility of services to students and ensures the efficient and accurate processing of student service transactions in accordance with University or other required protocols.
The selected candidate will assist in providing excellent service in counseling students and parents with a focus on the financial aid process, eligibility requirements, application submission, verification requirements, special circumstances, explain costs and awards, provide funding options, debt management and financial literacy planning; in addition expedited handling of billing, payments and records inquiries. The Assistant Director serves as the primary liaison between the office and the department of Information Technology to ensure adoption of industry best practices. S/he assists in evaluating, developing and implementing student services policies and procedures. The selected candidate promotes and conducts internal/external outreach workshops and works collaboratively with other functional areas, within the University.
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field is required. A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Higher Education Administration or related field is preferred. Two (2) years’ experience within a traditional financial aid service office or within a consolidated service department is required. Technical competency in a variety of computer applications including, but not limited to, ERP systems (Ellucian BANNER preferred), statistical software package (SAS preferred), COD, NJ FAMS, FAA ACCESS (CPS online), ELM and MS Office. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills are required. Demonstrated competency in successfully balancing multiple time-sensitive projects in a high demand/volume environment focused on increasing student satisfaction and persistence required. Familiarity with internal control and compliance issues is highly desired.
