Stanford University is seeking a Research Data Aide (50%FTE) with interests in coding and biochemistry to assist the Das Lab within the Department of Biochemistry. A successful candidate should have experience working with object-oriented code in Python and with SQL databases.

Duties include:

  • Collating documentation and making regular server and database updates for the Eterna citizen science project.
  • Making minor server, database, and documentation updates for the lab's RNA Mapping Database.
  • Coding up unit test scripts for packages in Das Lab's RiboKit tool set, based on existing tutorials and scripts.
* - Other duties may also be assigned. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience working with object-oriented code in Python and with SQL databases.
  • Experience working with Git and Github version control of software.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

High school diploma, G.E.D., or relevant experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

  • Demonstrated clerical, interpersonal, and basic organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Sitting in place at computer for long periods of time with extensive keyboarding/dexterity.
  • Occasionally use a telephone.
  • Rarely writing by hand.
