The Department of Communication at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in Leadership Communication at the assistant professor level to begin August 2018. The department offers undergraduate curricula in these areas of concentration: organizational and strategic communication; leadership communication; and the history, theory, and production of media. The department includes an array of other course offerings, grants a master's degree, and participates in a variety of general education and multidisciplinary programs.

While a strong research program is required for success in the department, teaching is considered to be of equal importance and should be a passion for the successful candidate. Advising and supervision of graduate students, including their master's thesis and capstone projects, is an expectation. Service to the department, university, and discipline, commensurate with rank and experience, is required.

The successful candidate will demonstrate scholarly achievement and the ability to teach courses in Leadership Communication at the undergraduate and graduate level. Experience in professional leadership roles in any sector is a plus.

Desirable secondary areas of emphasis for this position may include quantitative and/or qualitative research methods, information and communication technology, communication ethics, health and environmental communication, international/global communication, or sports communication. Teaching load is 5 courses per academic year.

A PhD in communication, or possibly a closely related leadership discipline, is required. ABD with evidence that completion of the dissertation is imminent will be considered. If the terminal degree is not completed by effective date of contract, a one-year appointment at the rank of Instructor at a lower salary may be offered.
