Compensation for this position in general will range from $31K to $42K. Previous work experience will be factored in as consideration.

Plan and prepare skills lab activities for all lab nursing levels. Work with Program Director to schedule classes, activities and provide necessary expertise and knowledge in support of the Vocational Nursing curriculum. Provide engagement and support activities which encourage student learning.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  1. Collaborate with course leaders and clinical faculty members to coordinate, develop and publish lab schedules, clinical activities, skills and clinical courses, and class curriculum and resources (e.g. syllabi, course outline);
  2. Assist instructors and/or students in the preparation of skills labs;
  3. Maintain current Policy and Procedures Manual as guidelines for nursing lab practices and keep current with new technologies and safety regulations;
  4. Set up essential equipment and supplies prior to the start time for labs;
  5. Assist with daily activities and services of the nursing lab, including but not limited to: scheduling, management of lab equipment and supplies;
  6. Sorts and stocks supplies, and assists in inventory of lab supplies and equipment;
  7. Answer non-routine questions and inquiries regarding nursing lab;
  8. Ensure nursing labs are clean, safe and organized; promote safe lab practices and protocols; and
  9. Collect, track and report data regarding students' practice in the labs and other reports as needed.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above. The qualifications listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.


High School Diploma or GED and a License Vocational Nurse (LVN) in Texas are required. Associate degree preferred. Official transcripts(s) conferring Certificate/degree must accompany the application.


Three (3) years clinical work experience in the nursing field is required.

  1. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form, with a diverse professional, community, and student population;
  2. Possess good organizational and planning skills;
  3. Possess medical skills, and knowledge of equipment and technology used in the nursing area;
  4. Knowledge of safety standards and practices used in nursing lab settings;
  5. Demonstrate sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities;
  6. Able to lift up to 50 pounds of receiving equipment and supplies as well as lab set-up;
  7. Possess a good grasp of MS Office software (excel, word, access and presentation);
  8. Able to inspire and motivate students in a learning-centered environment; and
  9. Self-disciplined and able to effectively work in a team environment.
