The Biological Sciences Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Instructional Lab Supervisor II to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:* Developing and leading a Teaching Assistant (TA) training workshop for all departmental TAs.* Training, supervising, evaluating, and counseling Teaching Assistants assigned to non-majors laboratory courses.* Providing supervisory oversight of the Instructional Lab Supervisor I position.* Developing on-line laboratory modules/protocols for non-majors lab course in conjunction with faculty.* Updating and maintaining laboratory protocols for on campus non-majors lab course with faculty input.* Purchasing software, supplies, materials, and equipment for assigned laboratory courses.* Ensuring non-majors laboratory labs (on campus and on-line) are ready for use by students.* Coordinating TA and GSA assignments in the department.The University of North Texas System is firmly committed to equal opportunity and does not permit - and takes actions to prevent - discrimination, harassment (including sexual violence), and retaliation on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, family status, genetic information, citizenship or veteran status in its application and admission processes, educational programs and activities, facilities, and employment practices. The successful candidate will possess a Master's Degree in related field and three years of related scientific or laboratory experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:* Extensive knowledge of equipment and instrumentation appropriate to the nature of the lab and/or the discipline and of supplies including operation, set-up, storage, and maintenance.* Working knowledge of instructional applications related to the laboratory and/or the discipline.* Physical abilities and skills to readily assemble and operate equipment and instrumentation.* Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions applicable to the lab, particularly in the sciences.* Ability to make effective presentations of experiments or software, and provide instruction in laboratory techniques, use of equipment, use of software, procedures, and safety rules.* Ability to supervise work performed by others and to work independent of close supervision.* Experience with external funding and funding agencies.
