Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Economics
Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Economics, Tenure Track, Department of Business, Accounting & Economics. Otterbein University, a comprehensive liberal arts institution in the suburban Columbus area, invites immediate applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Economics, with the appointment beginning in August 2018. This is a tenure-track position with commensurate expectations for teaching, scholarship and service. Candidates without terminal degrees would hold the rank of Instructor, Non-Tenure Track.
Responsibilities: The candidate is expected to excel in the areas of teaching, research, and service related to Otterbein’s BA degree in Economics. Primary teaching responsibilities include undergraduate courses in Principles of Microeconomics, Intermediate Microeconomics, and other advanced micro-based courses such as labor economics and environmental economics. The candidate may also be required to teach an MBA course in Managerial Economics. Research responsibilities include publishing in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at peer-reviewed conferences in areas related to Economics. Faculty members must be able to teach daytime and evening classes. Faculty members are also expected to be involved in professional and community activities for the purposes of scholarship, self-development and service.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Economics or be within one (1) year of Ph.D. completion is required. The candidate must have a specialization in microeconomics. Effective teaching experience at the baccalaureate level and demonstrated record of scholarship are also required. Teaching at the graduate level, experience in curriculum development and evaluation, and experience in online and/or blended course delivery are preferred. The ideal candidate must possess superior communication, leadership and organizational skills, and an ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse communities and cultures. This is a tenure-track position with commensurate expectations for teaching, scholarship, and service. Candidates without terminal degrees will hold the rank of Instructor, Non-Tenure Track.
