Director, Centralized Tutoring and Academic Support Programming

Under the direction of the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, the Director of Centralized Tutoring and Academic Support Programming will coordinate all aspects of tutorial services for NJCU undergraduate and graduate student populations. This position works closely with college deans, faculty and staff representing various academic departments and special student-cohorts. The Director will oversee the EAB student success collaborative software to communicate with peer and professional tutors, instructors, faculty and department heads and to schedule, collect data related to tutoring sessions, respond to performance alerts and to analyze data to enhance tutorial services. The Director will also oversee the development and dissemination of student outcomes assessment surveys and rubrics. Some evening, weekend, and off-campus assignments may be required.

Duties

  • Direct centralized tutoring services and academic support programming for a diverse undergraduate and graduate population.

  • Advance the centralized tutoring model and academic support programming.

  • Data collection and assessment of tutoring and academic support services using EAB system.

  • Research and initiate technology and learning trends that support the student success initiative set forth by the university.

  • Direct peer, alumni, and adjunct tutors, and administrative staff.

  • Develop and maintain multiple budgets which may include university and grant funding.

  • Oversee multiple tutoring locations and ensure quality of services.

  • Ensure that tutorial facilities are staffed and effectively supervised.

  • Recruit and train tutors and tutoring administrative staff.

  • Develop and maintain student assistant and contract employee documents.

  • Assessment of tutoring services and academic support programming.

  • Manage centralized academic probation support program using multiple probation lists.

  • Collaborate with athletics on academic support programming.

  • Collaborate on the development of summer programming.

  • Collaborate in the oversight, implementation, and scheduling of Supplemental Instruction.

  • Promote tutorial services and create awareness of tutoring and academic support services and programming.

  • Provide direction to tutoring staff and promote academic integrity and excellence.

  • Develop, maintain, and initiate marketing campaigns and social media presence.

  • Attend learning center conferences and keep updated on trends.

  • Facilitate regular staff meetings.

  • Design and implementation of open and in-class academic workshops.

Requirements:

A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university. A minimum of 5 years of increased professional experience in tutoring and academic support programming in higher education. Must have experience with a diverse academic, socioeconomic, and cultural population along with a technical aptitude and ability to work in a fast paced, high demand environment.
