Responsibilities will be carried out in the Srinivasan Lab of WPI's Biology and Biotechnology department. The Srinivasan lab is in interested in understanding the neural and genetic basis of behavior using the nematode C. elegans as a model system. Current projects involve chemical signaling and social behavior, neuropeptide signaling, and neural circuit dynamics. Our research at WPI is highly interdisciplinary and encompasses areas such as neurobiology, molecular genetics, chemical biology, microfluidics, high-throughput neural imaging, and bioinformatics.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
This is an excellent opportunity to interact with scientists in the vibrant neuroscience community in Worcester, MA, where we interact closely with other worm groups at WPI and nearby UMASS Medical School, collaborators around the Boston area, and collaborators around the US and internationally. The position requires participation in general laboratory operations and maintenance, contributions to original research, and a desire to advance his/her professional knowledge and abilities.
Other duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Student mentorship at the graduate, undergraduate, and high school levels, and Outreach participation
• Finance and administration management
• Laboratory safety
• Database management
• General laboratory maintenance
