Assistant/Associate Professor in Comparative/Global/International EducationPosition Summary
The Department of Teacher Education at Michigan State University (MSU), a national leader in teacher preparation and research on teaching, teacher learning, curriculum, policy, and international education, is seeking a tenure system Assistant or Associate Professor in Comparative/Global/International Education. We seek a colleague who can engage with both domestic and international educators college-wide around interdisciplinary problems of practice and educational research questions, especially those that arise from the challenges of preparing/supporting high-quality teachers and schools in 21st century globalizing contexts. The faculty member will teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in international/comparative education as well as courses dealing with the theories and methodologies appropriate for researching teacher education worldwide. The multidisciplinary nature of the department and opportunities for collaboration across and beyond the College of Education make it important that a colleague have interest and skill in collaborating across methodological, subject area, and other differences.
Applicants should provide evidence of accomplishment in research, teaching, and service. The successful applicant will be expected to seek external research funding and develop research collaborations within and beyond the Department.
Conducting innovative, rigorous research
Securing external grants for research and development work
Teaching undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral courses in all modalities
Advising graduate students
Leading or supporting program development
Contributing to intra-university or school-university partnerships
Collaborating with or mentoring of faculty.
An earned doctoral degree in education or a related field or provide evidence that the doctoral degree will be completed prior to the start date of the appointment. Associate professor level applicants for the position should have a strong portfolio of publications in top-ranked journals, a track record of external funding, and commitment to studying under-served populations.Desired Qualifications
We are seeking an individual with a strong program of externally funded research in this area whose expertise will complement that of MSU faculty. Although we are open to a variety of geographic research areas and disciplinary orientations, we will give preference to candidates who focus on Latin America and have methodological expertise in mixed methods research and/or evaluation-oriented research addressing teaching, teacher education, and related educational topics.Required Application Materials
