Starting pay is based on experience with a minimum starting rate of $17.25
This position's main function is to be responsible for the payroll and staff benefits program for the University of Wisconsin Survey Center for all employment types according to the rules and regulations established by UW_Madison. This position reports to the Business Office Manager at the University of Wisconsin Survey Center (UWSC), and collaborates with other senior members of the UWSC team for the recruitment, hiring and appointment process for all personnel.
Our department is independently responsible for performing a wide variety of activities in the UW Human Resources System (HRS). Our department is Centralized Plus and performs many of the duties for itself typically performed at the divisional level. Responsibilities include all HRS modules relating to payroll, leave accounting, benefits, funding and human resources for Academic, University Staff, Temporary Employees and Student Hourly appointments. This position requires a thorough knowledge of university payroll and benefits and with internal departmental operating procedures.
Position will independently process, audit and reconcile routine and complex financial transactions such as travel reimbursements and purchasing for the department. This position must be well-versed in the use of Microsoft Office. Knowledge of QuickBooks would be an advantage. The ability to take initiative for interpreting, developing and documenting procedures based upon UW Survey Center's and UW Madison's rules and regulations, financial policies and procedures is also required. Precision in bookkeeping along with adherence to established accounting and auditing principles is essential. Knowledge of UW-Madison purchasing and travel rules and regulations is a plus.
This position is also responsible for a variety of administrative duties such as ordering supplies, coordinating with the Building Manager, maintaining office equipment, maintenance needs and schedules, along with other duties as assigned.
Hours 7:00am- 3:45 somewhat flexable
40 Hours per week
May entail some sporadic evenings or weekends
