Position Summary

The Human Resources Administrator will administer human resources functions in support of the laboratory’s mission to attract and retain highly qualified staff. The Human Resources Administrator will administer human resources functions for the laboratory in accordance with federal and state regulations, MSU policies and procedures, and collective bargaining agreements. These activities include recruiting, interviewing, on-boarding, managing performance, and engaging highly qualified staff; develop and execute various human resource processes and actions to attain organizational goals; assists in the development and implementation of human resource policies and procedures to ensure that the laboratory is in compliance with federal, state and MSU policies and procedures; acts as a resource to resolve complex problems with laboratory employees in the administration of human resource programs and functions and work collaboratively with MSU Human Resources; maintains a strong commitment to the implementation MSU ethics and values; maintains continuous quality improvement practices based on customer and staff feedback; establishes and maintains excellent working relationships with key stakeholders, including managers, employees, students, and human resources staff at MSU and other organizations.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four year college degree program in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field, or a field related to the employing unit; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in managing human resource functions, designing and implementing training programs and human resource/labor relations management and computer applications; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. May require experience related to the field of employment.

Desired Qualifications

Visa processing and employee relations experience and knowledge; experience in maintaining ERP database; skilled at performing accurate, detailed work covering a wide variety of functions; ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing; ability to work in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision, managing multiple projects simultaneously; ability to maintain confidentiality.
