Involves the evaluation of computer-animated coaches for promoting health behavior change and general health education and counseling. Primarily responsible for conducting human subjects studies of health education software systems in both lab and field settings, including organizing study materials, recruitment, running studies, data collection, data cleaning, and preliminary data analysis. Responsible for all aspects of IRB compliance including maintenance of study paperwork, IRB protocol submission and renewal. Also responsible for pilot testing health education software systems prior to human subjects studies and providing detailed feedback to software development team. Some field studies require travel to participants' homes.
Requires Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field, and experience running human subjects studies, in both lab and field settings, and managing IRB protocols. Experience with Microsoft Office products is essential, especially Excel. Must be able to drive to reach participant homes. Should have experience conducting semi-structured interviews, conducting qualitative analyses of interviews, and coding subject verbal and nonverbal behavior from video. Experience working with embodied conversational agent software a plus.
