Position Description: The Family and Child Development program at Texas State University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position. This is a 9-month appointment with the possibility of summer teaching. This position is available at the Associate Professor or Professor rank.

The Family and Child Development program at Texas State offers a Bachelor of Science at the undergraduate level and a Master of Science degree in family and child studies with administration and evaluation or child life specialist tracks. The successful candidate for this position will be able to maintain an active research agenda and participate in appropriate service activities. In addition, they will be able to teach courses in one or more of these topic areas at the undergraduate and graduate level: family and child development theory, family relationships, research methods, program administration, administration/evaluation of human service organizations, guidance, infant through adolescent development, cultural diversity, child life, sexuality across the life course, developmentally appropriate curriculum planning for young children.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in family and child development or a closely related field; a demonstrated record of research and publication in the top journals in the discipline; current or previous external funding; and evidence of high quality teaching at the college level.

To be eligible for hire at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, candidates must meet the requirements for that rank as established by the School of Family and Consumer Sciences and the University. The successful applicant will receive the appropriate rank and title based on University and Department established guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications

Research focused on early and/or middle childhood, family relationships (e.g., romantic/marital relationship, parent-child, sibling, etc.), or resilience within marginalized contexts (ethnic and/or racial diversity, economic disadvantage, hospitalization and health disparities); research interest and/or experience working with diverse populations or within diverse contexts; experience in grant procurement; current publication record; current external funding; experience mentoring masters students; teaching and/or research awards; and experience mentoring undergraduate students.
